Sergio Lombardo’s traveling exhibition “2JFK” is reaching Miami and will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute

The final leg of artist Sergio Lombardo’s traveling exhibition “2JFK” is reaching Miami and will be on display at the new headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institute.
The two historic portraits of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, painted between 1961 and 1963 by the Roman master of the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo, have been traveling around the U.S. since 2023, on the 60th anniversary of President Kennedy’s passing: an excellent opportunity to bring into dialogue Italian twentieth-century art with contemporary American history and to deepen our knowledge of the work of Sergio Lombardo, an influential artist investigator of the psychological impact of mass media on Western audiences.
We will discuss this in conversation with the project curator Professor Miriam Mirolla (Academy of Fine Arts in Rome), Professor David Chang (FIU Academy of Portrait and Figurative Art) and the artist, who will join us remotely from Italy.
You are cordially invited on Wednesday, January 31 at 6 pm at the Italian Cultural Institute, 209 Altara Ave., Coral Gables. The talk will be held in English. Due to limited seating capacity, it is essential to RSVP at miami.culturale@esteri.it and iicmiami.segreteria@esteri.it
The artworks will remain on display by appointment only (iicmiami.segreteria@esteri.it) until Feb. 29, 2024.
