Tropical Storm “Isaias” is currently moving from the Atlantic coast of Mexico toward the coastal areas of Mississippi, Alabama, and northwestern Florida. This storm is expected to intensify into a major hurricane on Friday, October 9, when it reaches U.S. territory.

Yesterday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed Executive Order No. 26-202 declaring a state of emergency in 25 counties in Florida in anticipation of the tropical storm’s arrival: Baker, Bay, Calhoun, Columbia, Dixie, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Walton, Wakulla, and Washington.

Heavy rainfall is expected, with possible flash flooding in urban and coastal areas, as well as strong wind gusts throughout the rest of Florida. In particular, Italian citizens who are present for any reason along the coastal strip between Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and Indian Pass, Florida, are urged to take appropriate protective measures in the event of a hurricane and to follow the instructions of the relevant local authorities in this regard.
