Special screening of “Dante” (2022) by Pupi Avati by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Dante Alighieri Society of Miami

A special screening of the film “Dante” (2022) by Pupi Avati is scheduled tomorrow, December 19, by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Dante Alighieri Society of Miami. The event is part of a widespread cultural initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to celebrate in the world the image of Dante Alighieri, involving the entire diplomatic-consular network and Italian Cultural Institutes.

The film recounts the Poet through the words of Giovanni Boccaccio, who in 1350 embarks on a journey to find Dante’s daughter. Along the way, Boccaccio traces the salient episodes of the Poet’s life, from his meeting with Beatrice to his friendship with Guido Cavalcanti, from the internecine wars between Bianchi and Neri to his entry into politics as prior to his “infinite exile.”

In Miami, the screening will be held starting at 6 p.m. at the Dante Alighieri Society headquarters (401 Coral Way, Suite 105, Coral Gables). In original Italian with English subtitles, free admission with limited seating: reservations are essential at iicmiami.segreteria@esteri.it
