Passports

General Information

In order to apply for a passport, it is mandatory to schedule an appointment through the Prenot@mi website. Italian Nationals are required to create a personal account on the portal and book an appointment (please see below for detailed instructions).

Before making an appointment to obtain your passport using the PRENOT@MI portal, please make sure you’re officially registered at the Consulate General of Italy in Miami. Italian citizens who reside in this consular district for at least 6 months per year must have already submitted an AIRE enrolment application to the Consulate in Miami AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT. The same applies to citizens who are already enrolled in AIRE from another consulate and who meet the residency requirements. Registration with A.I.R.E. is a civic duty (art. 6 Law 470/1988) and is a prerequisite for obtaining a new passport abroad. To register with AIRE, visit the AIRE page of the Registry Office.

Please note that no fee is due to schedule an appointment. Appointments must always be confirmed by the applicant, using the online portal Prenot@mi, 3 to 10 days (by 12 pm Rome time) prior to the scheduled appointment date.

Please note that for security reasons, it is not possible to enter the Consulate premises with bulky bags, backpacks or suitcases.

For minors under the age of 12, it is possible to apply for a passport by mail (without an in-person appointment) by carefully following the instructions on the passport section for minors.

Italian nationals over the age of 70 (SILVER DAY), registered in AIRE in this Consular Jurisdiction, may request a dedicated appointment by emailing the passport office (passaporti.miami@esteri.it) specifying in the subject line their details (first name, last name and date of birth) and category (SILVER).

Italian nationals residing in Orlando, South Carolina, Georgia, the Bahamas and Jamaica may deposit their biometric data at their respective Honorary Consulates (by contacting them at the addresses available on the website), and then send the documentation to this Consulate General by mail (no need to come to Miami personally).

Starting June 14, 2023, it will no longer be necessary to submit the consent agreement for the issuance of passport in favor of applicants with minor children.

In case of proven emergency (health reasons, work, theft or loss of the one and only travel document etc.) send an email to passaporti.miami@esteri.it attaching any relevant documents to determine and prove such emergency.
