Today, a beautiful ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Italy in Miami to award Eduitalia scholarships to students of Italian in the consular district. The ceremony was a special video connection with the Embassy of Italy in Washington and the other Consulates in the network in the U.S. It was a joyous occasion, and three brilliant students from Miami were awarded scholarships. They will travel to Italy in the coming months to study and deepen their knowledge of the Italian language in Florence, Perugia, and Verona.
The event was attended by many school principals and Italian teachers from Miami-Dade County schools, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. This highlights the high caliber of Italian courses available in our local schools, thanks to the support of projects funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Today’s occasion was also a moment of reflection on the importance of the study of Italian in a specific reality such as that of Miami and Florida: leaning towards Latin America, strong with an oftentimes bilingual population (English/Spanish) and protagonist of an impetuous economic growth (especially in the luxury sectors), this State feeds an ever-growing and highly diversified demand for everything Italian, from our language and culture to made-in-Italy design, from our technological and manufacturing excellence to food and wine. The 12,000 students of Italian in the southeastern United States, and especially in Florida, thus testify to the vibrancy of the cultural exchange with Italy, which is renewed with so many promising young people from generation to generation.
The Consulate General of Italy in Miami sincerely congratulates Daniela, Natalia and Vanessa on their achievements, and their outstanding teachers. And congratulations to your families, too!
