For the first time, Florida is hosting an Erasmus project involving four Italian university students. This initiative in educational cooperation between Italy and the United States has enabled four students in the Primary Education degree program at the University of Milano-Bicocca to complete a 75-hour internship at George Washington Carver Elementary School, a public school in Miami-Dade County.
This milestone was made possible through close collaboration among several partners:
- The University of Milano-Bicocca, for its strong commitment to giving future teachers international experience;
- The Education Office of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, which coordinated and facilitated local connections;
- The Miami-Dade County Public Schools Board, for its continued support of cultural and academic exchanges;
- Carver Elementary School’s Italian-language teachers and principal, Mrs. Patricia Fairclough, whose openness to innovative projects helped welcome the Italian interns and make them part of the school community.
The experience gives these future teachers an opportunity to grow professionally and gain firsthand insight into the U.S. education system. It also strengthens the ties of friendship and cooperation between Italy and Florida in the vital field of education.
