Ambassador Armando Varricchio’s visit to the State of Alabama

The Ambassador of Italy in the US, Armando Varricchio, visited the State of Alabama on February 5th, where he met Governor Kay Ivey. During the meeting, which took place in the Capitol Montgomery, the Governor and the Ambassador discussed about the strengthening of the relationship with the State of Alabama, from a political, cultural and economic perspective and explored opportunities of further cooperation, especially in the manufacturing field.

Ambassador Varricchio also visited Tuskegee where he had the opportunity to view the site selected by DRS-Leonardo, should the company win the bid for such a program, for the assembly line of the trainer jet T-100. The investment is linked to the participation of Leonardo’s affiliate DRS to the tender for the supply of the new trainer jet commissioned by USAF. If Leonardo DRS were to be awarded, it would enable the creation of 750 new jobs in the Tuskegee area.
