Yesterday at the Italian Cultural Institute in Miami was held the celebration of “Italian Design Day in the World,” the thematic event born in 2017 that involves the offices of the diplomatic-consular network, Italian Cultural Institutes and ITA Offices in the promotion of Italian creativity.
Testifying at the “Italian Design Day” in Miami was world-renowned architect Piero Lissoni, one of the most appreciated masters of contemporary design and an authoritative interpreter of Italian genius, whose most iconic creations – in about 40 of his international career – range from architecture to interior design, from product design to graphic design.
The connection between architect Lissoni and the city of Miami is a clear example of the success that made in Italy knows in the economic, social and cultural ecosystem of South Florida. Various buildings and interiors symbolic of the soaring economic growth that is making Miami one of the most important contemporary metropolises have been designed by Piero Lissoni.
With a specific focus on the long-term answers that design can offer for better living (“Inequalities. Design for a Better Life”), the event, organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Miami in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the ICE Office, was a great success with the audience, including industry specialists, entrepreneurs and personalities from Florida’s academic and cultural world. Lissoni declined the cardinal principles of his aesthetic creed and his unrepeatable compositional method, illustrating with participation and at the same time irony the creative solutions that have made him famous in the world, with a language that is increasingly appreciated and capable of touching the chords of a global audience. A special tribute to the well-known designer’s ability to articulate Miami’s iconic style, Design Day was also an opportunity to exalt the best expressions of that Made in Italy charged with deep values and meanings that never ceases to fascinate and be successful and that, in the United States and in Florida in particular, has one of its main markets.
On the combination of art and design is grafted in Miami a strategy of communication and promotion of the best that Italy can offer, which in this particularly dynamic and demanding market manages to arouse strong interest. With the same objective already last December on the occasion of the Art Basel Miami Beach fair, a system event organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, the Cultural Institute in Miami and the Italian Trade Agency in Miami was held to promote the Salone del Mobile in Milan and Italian contemporary art galleries, which was a considerable success among professionals in the sector.
