Emergency Travel Document (ETD):
If you find yourself abroad in an emergency situation (for example, if you are a tourist in transit and need to leave but have lost or had your passport stolen) and you do not have the means or time to request the issuance of a new passport, the Italian diplomatic-consular representations, present both in Europe and in non-European countries, can issue a provisional travel document (also called an E.T.D. – Emergency Travel Document).
The Consulate can issue an Emergency Travel Document (E.T.D.) within 7 days of departure if you appear in person, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (no need of appointment), with the following documentation:
- In case of Theft or loss of passport: lost/stolen report of theft or loss and local police report;
- 2 passport pictures;
- copy of passport (if available).
- identity document (if available);
- copy of purchased airline ticket;
- money order of $1.80 (Until 09/30/25).
ETD request form for a minor needs to be signed by both parents.
