In the event of theft or loss of a valid Italian passport (i.e., not expired), please contact the Passport Office at passaporti.miami@esteri.it and attach the following documentation:

  • Completed and signed passport theft/loss report form (please ensure that all fields are filled out and that a detailed description of the incident is provided in the designated section);

Emergency Travel Document (ETD):

If you find yourself abroad in an emergency situation (for example, if you are a tourist in transit and need to leave but have lost or had your passport stolen) and you do not have the means or time to request the issuance of a new passport, the Italian diplomatic-consular representations, present both in Europe and in non-European countries, can issue a provisional travel document (also called an E.T.D. – Emergency Travel Document).

The Consulate can issue an Emergency Travel Document (E.T.D.) within 7 days of departure if you appear in person, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (no need of appointment), with the following documentation:

  • In case of Theft or loss of passport: lost/stolen report of theft or loss and local police report;
  • 2 passport pictures;
  • copy of passport (if available).
  • identity document (if available);
  • copy of purchased airline ticket;

ETD request form for a minor needs to be signed by both parents.
