From November 17 to 20, Ambassador of Italy to the United States Marco Peronaci made his first official visit to Florida. Our Chief of Mission followed an intense and articulated program of meetings that allowed him to get to know better our established and numerous community here and representatives of some of the most important Italian companies operating in this market: from automobiles to infrastructure, from enogastronomy to design, from luxury yachting to advanced manufacturing, there is no sphere of Florida’s economy in which there are not companies from our country that make their mark and achieve extraordinary results. The Ambassador also had the opportunity to meet with academics, science and culture. There were also numerous and many fruitful contacts with local authorities at the highest level.

Among the most meaningful moments for all of us, we would like to mention: 1) the Ambassador’s visit to the Freedom Tower, together with the friends of Miami Dade College who gave us a truly fraternal welcome (it was very moving to pay tribute all together to the memory of so many who suffered and were able to rebuild their lives and contribute to the welfare of their loved ones and American society); 2) the Ambassador’s participation in the masterclass that we organized at the Miami Dade College Culinary Institute as part of the 10th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World (SCIM), under the banner of a long collaboration that always gives us much satisfaction, allowing many young and brilliant chefs in Miami to approach Italian culture and gastronomic traditions; 3) the Chief of Mission’s visit to the MSC Passenger Terminal at the Port of Miami built by Fincantieri Infrastructure: a marvelous and futuristic strategic infrastructure for the metropolis, which testifies to Italian genius; 4) the visit in FortLauderdale to the headquarters of some of our most important companies in the luxury nautical sector (Azimut-Benetti, SanLorenzo, etc. ); 5) meeting with Italian scientists and researchers active at the University of Miami (Faculty of Medicine).

The Ambassador also had the opportunity to meet with his entire team in Miami (Consulate General, Italian Cultural Institute and ICE Office).

We would like to thank all the friends and local partners who with great willingness and generosity assisted us in presenting the best of what Florida has to offer.
