10/09/2024. 10/08/2024. As is well known, starting today evening, Tuesday, Oct. 8, Florida will be affected by the passage of Hurricane “Milton.” The heavy rainfall and flooding of these hours in several neighborhoods of Miami are the first warnings of the general deterioration of weather conditions expected in the coming days. As can be seen from the releases of the comepetent U.S. authorities, Milton has become a Category 5 hurricane, the highest, and it is not ruled out at the moment that it may strengthen further along its path of approach to the coast of West Florida.

The worsening weather will most likely affect the city of Coral Gables, where the Consulate General is based.

While advising users to strictly follow the directions provided by local authorities and to carefully monitor the website of the U.S. National Hurricane Center and Central Pacific Hurricane Center, caution is urged when traveling.

Compatriots and users are reminded that under current conditions, the Consulate General of Italy in Miami remains fully operational.

However, in the event of further deterioration of the weather and security conditions (expected tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10), in the presence of measures by the authorities restricting the movement of people and ordering the closure of public offices, we would like to assure that any appointments in attendance previously made by those concerned will be appropriately rescheduled by the staff of the Consulate General to the first subsequent convenient date. This will be communicated through this website and social media profiles.

Users are invited to report any emergency situations to the Consulate General. The Consulate General will remain operational as much as possible to ensure emergency services to assist nationals.
