A Dreamscape of Italian Design

The Consulate General of Italy in Miami celebrated once again Art Basel Miami Beach with a special event that promoted Italian art, design, and manufacturing.

“A Dreamscape of Italian Design”, organized in collaboration with the Italian Ministry for Economic Development, the Italian Trade Agency, Salone del Mobile.Milano, Lamborghini, Kartell, Missoni, and INTERNI, took place on December 4th at the prestigious Wolfsonian-FIU museum on Washington Avenue. The event featured a panel discussion with international design leaders, art installations, and a gourmet cocktail reception.

Consul General of Italy in Miami Cristiano Musillo opened the evening emphasizing the shared vision on art, design, and business between Italy and Miami Beach. Mayor of Miami Beach Dan Gelber, Trade Commissioner Andrea Ferrari, and Salone del Mobile.Milano Director General Marco Sabetta followed with insightful remarks.

Former Chief Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA and former PAMM Director Terence Riley led the discussion by renown designers Michele De Lucchi, Francesca Lanzavecchia, Piero Lissoni, and Angela Missoni, who provided insights on the current trends of Italian design and its future. INTERNI magazine closed the panel discussion with a presentation of their Serie Oro volume titled: “Italian Design Factories: International Stories and Visions.”

The evening continued with “The Art Side of Kartell” by Kartell, “The Lunch” by artist Arianna Carossa, and an immersive 1960s installation featuring a 1968 Miura by Lamborghini. Guests were welcome to visit the delightful museum galleries and enjoy an art-inspired menu with a selection of Italian delicacies.

The event also brought awareness to the recent high tide and flooding in Venice and raised funds for the preservation of its cultural heritage.
