Failure to comply with it will<\/strong><br \/><strong>result in the rejection of the application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On December 1, 2018 has been approved the new Art. 9.1 of the Law no. 91\/1992 concerning the procedures for the Italian citizenship acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>The Art. 9.1 establishes the mandatory requirement of an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, at least B1 level of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), in order to acquire the Italian citizenship under Art. 5 or Art. 9 of the said Law no. 91\/1992, respectively acquisition through marriage or granted by a President\u2019s Decree.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore <strong>at the application submission<\/strong> among other documentation <strong>must be provided<\/strong> to the Consulate:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">or<\/span> a degree released <\/strong>by an Italian Public School or by a private Italian School recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">or<\/span> a certification<\/strong> released by one of the following Italian Institutions:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Universita\u2019 per stranieri di Siena<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Universita\u2019 per stranieri di Perugia<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Universita\u2019 Roma Tre<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Societa\u2019 Dante Alighieri<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Istituti Italiani di Cultura.<\/p>\n<p>Please visit the <strong>Citizenship through marriage<\/strong> section for full information on application.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The language requirement affects all the applications submitted on-line on and after December 4, 2018.
