{"id":9949,"date":"2026-10-01T17:20:14","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T21:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/?p=9949"},"modified":"2026-10-01T17:22:51","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T21:22:51","slug":"consular-missions-and-electoral-missions-bringing-our-services-ever-closer-to-the-italian-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dal_consolato\/2026\/10\/consular-missions-and-electoral-missions-bringing-our-services-ever-closer-to-the-italian-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Consular Missions and Electoral Missions: Bringing Our Services Ever Closer to the Italian Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As many of you know, the special <em>electoral missions<\/em> of the Consulate General\u2014organized to collect and authenticate the signatures of Italian voters for the submission of lists for the 2026 COMITES elections\u2014will conclude the day after tomorrow, <strong>3 October 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>San Juan, Puerto Rico<\/strong> to <strong>Tampa<\/strong>, from <strong>Atlanta<\/strong> to <strong>Naples<\/strong>, we have traveled <strong>4,385 kilometers<\/strong> across the entire consular district to facilitate these important pre\u2011electoral procedures.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, with a view to optimizing resources and improving efficiency, we have carried out numerous passport and consular service missions. In just the past few days, our itinerant officers have brought essential consular services directly to our fellow Italians in <strong>Orlando, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Sarasota, Fort Lauderdale, and Weston<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since <strong>17 August<\/strong>, we have ensured nearly <strong>200 hours of extraordinary openings<\/strong> to support the authentication of signatures for the COMITES elections, and we have renewed <strong>hundreds of passports<\/strong>, further increasing the number of passports issued by our Consulate General. All of this has been done to meet the needs of our very large Italian community\u2014now well over <strong>72,000 residents<\/strong>, the second\u2011largest Italian constituency in the United States, surpassed only by the jurisdiction of New York.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To meet the demand for consular services from those living in the most remote areas of our district<\/strong>\u2014who may face challenges in traveling\u2014<strong>we are organizing additional passport and consular missions beginning in mid\u2011January.<\/strong> This expanded offering will complement the services already available, both online and in person, at the Consulate General in Miami.
