{"id":4986,"date":"2023-09-29T14:55:29","date_gmt":"2023-09-29T18:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/?page_id=4986"},"modified":"2025-12-02T15:21:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T20:21:26","slug":"how-to-register-a-death-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/vital-statistics\/how-to-register-a-death-2\/","title":{"rendered":"How to register a death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"79\"><strong data-start=\"4\" data-end=\"77\">Registration of Death Certificates Issued Abroad for Italian Citizens<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"81\" data-end=\"210\">To register the death of an Italian citizen that occurred outside Italian territory, the following documents must be submitted:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"254\"><strong data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"252\">Request for Registration of Death<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>A completed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/trascrizioneattomorte.pdf\"><strong data-start=\"272\" data-end=\"293\">registration form<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Extended death certificate (long form, including cause of death)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Issued by the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"371\">Vital Statistics Office<\/strong>\u00a0of the country\/state where the death occurred.<\/li>\n<li>Must include the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"510\">full name, place and date of birth, and place and date of death<\/strong>\u00a0of the deceased Italian citizen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"590\"><strong data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"588\">Apostille of the Death Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Issued by the competent authority to authenticate the document for use in Italy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"738\"><strong data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"736\">Translation into Italian of the Death Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The translation must be\u00a0<strong data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"793\">complete and accurate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can be done by the applicant (if proficient in Italian) or by a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consmiami.esteri.it\/it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/altri-servizi\/lista-traduttori\/\"><strong data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"893\">qualified translator<\/strong><\/a>. A list of official translators is available for reference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1010\"><strong data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1008\">Proof of Italian Citizenship of the Deceased<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A copy of one of the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong data-start=\"1067\" data-end=\"1092\">Italian Identity Card<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1122\">Italian Passport<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1170\">Certificate of Italian Citizenship<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1177\" data-end=\"1220\"><strong data-start=\"1177\" data-end=\"1218\">Photocopy of Identification Documents<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>A copy of a\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1238\" data-end=\"1262\">valid ID or passport<\/strong>\u00a0of both the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1275\" data-end=\"1288\">requester<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1309\">deceased<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>If the certificate is a document other than A4, and\/or printed on both side, and\/or with glued attachments, please provide a copy of each side on a single face sheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Registration of Death Certificates Issued Abroad for Italian Citizens To register the death of an Italian citizen that occurred outside Italian territory, the following documents must be submitted: Request for Registration of Death A completed\u00a0registration form.
