(Registry of Italians Residing Abroad) was established by Law No. 470 of October 27, 1988. It contains the personal data of Italian citizens who reside abroad for more than twelve months. It is managed by Italian municipalities based on data and information provided by Italian Consular Offices abroad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Registration with A.I.R.E. is both a right and a duty of the citizen (Art. 6 of Law 470\/1988), and it is a prerequisite for accessing a range of consular services abroad as well as exercising important rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the entry into force of Law No. 213 of December 30, 2023\u2014specifically Article 1, paragraph 242, which amends Article 11 of Law No. 1228 of 1954\u2014a sanctioning system has been introduced for those who fail to update their personal data as required by law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In particular, sanctions apply to individuals who relocate abroad and fail to notify their Italian municipality (via the competent Consulate) and register with A.I.R.E. within 90 days of their move.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Municipalities are responsible for verifying compliance and issuing penalties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>HOW TO REGISTER WITH A.I.R.E.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Registration can be done through the FAST IT portal, where citizens can create an account and access consular services: <a href=\"https:\/\/serviziconsolari.esteri.it\/home\">FAST IT Portal<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Creating a FAST IT account <strong>does NOT automatically<\/strong> register or update your A.I.R.E. information.<\/li>\n<li>Information entered must <strong>exactly match<\/strong> the details on your Italian passport.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not have an Italian passport, the data must match the original birth certificate as registered in your Italian municipality.<\/li>\n<li>Any middle names must be entered in the &#8220;FIRST NAME&#8221; field.<\/li>\n<li>Dates must follow the European format: <strong>DAY \/ MONTH \/ YEAR<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Documents should preferably be uploaded in <strong>PDF format<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For questions, email: <strong>aire@esteri.it<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>SECTION A \u2013 REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To register with A.I.R.E., the following documents are required:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>I.R.E. Registration Form<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Italian Citizenship<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Legal Residence<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Current Address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For families living at the same address:<\/strong> One application can be submitted for the whole household, but identity documents must be provided for each family member. If the family members are Italian citizens, include a valid Italian ID or a birth certificate issued by the municipality that registered the birth. For foreign nationals, include a generic ID such as a foreign passport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For minors:<\/strong> The registration form must be signed by <strong>both biological parents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TECHNICAL NOTE \u2013 Document Upload Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Must be <strong>PDF scans<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Max resolution: <strong>200 dpi<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Max file size: <strong>1 MB per document<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A.I.R.E. Registration Form<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Complete all fields.<\/li>\n<li>Name, surname, place, and date of birth must exactly match those registered in your Italian municipality.<\/li>\n<li>For citizens who previously resided in Italy, indicate your <strong>last municipality of residence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For those who never lived in Italy, indicate the <strong>municipality where your birth certificate was registered<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The form must be signed manually or, if logged in via SPID, the signature is not required.<\/li>\n<li>For family registrations, the form must be signed by spouses and\/or parents (if children are included).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Proof of Italian Citizenship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Valid Italian ID (passport or identity card), or<\/li>\n<li>Citizenship certificate issued by an Italian authority, or<\/li>\n<li>Birth certificate with registration details issued by an Italian municipality (preferably an &#8220;estratto per riassunto dell\u2019atto di nascita&#8221;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Important for citizens with dual nationality:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>If born with another citizenship: attach a copy of the foreign passport.<\/li>\n<li>If naturalized: include a declaration from foreign authorities indicating the <strong>exact date of acquisition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>S. citizens born abroad to American parents: include a <strong>Consular Report of Birth Abroad<\/strong> (issued by the U.S. Department of State).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Proof of Legal Residence<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Provide a document proving legal stay in the U.S., such as:\n<ul>\n<li>Valid visa (or renewal application),<\/li>\n<li>Work permit,<\/li>\n<li>Green Card,<\/li>\n<li>S. passport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>If the applicant is not a U.S. citizen by birth and holds a U.S. passport, also include a copy of the naturalization certificate (for those born before August 16, 1992).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>If the Green Card is expired, include either a non-naturalization statement from the U.S. Immigration Office OR a scan of your Italian passport with an entry stamp into the U.S. dated after August 15, 1992.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>If you have no residence document, please email <strong>miami.aire@esteri.it<\/strong> for guidance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Proof of Current Address<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Provide a utility bill (electricity, water, internet) in your name or that of a cohabiting family member, with the address matching the one in the form.<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, include a lease or property deed.<\/li>\n<li>If available, attach a U.S. driver\u2019s license showing the same address.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bank statements are not accepted<\/strong> as proof of address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>SECTION B \u2013 INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION \/ UPDATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Creating a FAST IT account alone <strong>does not<\/strong> register or update A.I.R.E. information. All steps below must be completed for successful registration or address updates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Create an account \/ log in using <strong>Google Chrome or Internet Explorer<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/serviziconsolari.esteri.it\/home\">FAST IT<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201cREGISTRAZIONE\u201d to register or log in with your email and password if already registered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Transferring from another consulate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>If you were registered with a different Consulate, you do <strong>not<\/strong> need to delete your FAST IT account.<\/li>\n<li>Enter all required fields correctly\u2014the system will automatically update your assigned Consulate.<\/li>\n<li>Your former Consulate will be notified of the change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>To check if you are already registered:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Click on \u201cVISUALIZZARE LA PROPRIA SCHEDA ANAGRAFICA\u201d and follow the instructions.\n<ul>\n<li>If your name <strong>is listed<\/strong>, follow steps to update your address.<\/li>\n<li>If your name <strong>is not listed<\/strong>, proceed with a <strong>new registration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"2\">\n<li>Click on \u201cANAGRAFE CONSOLARE e AIRE\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>For <strong>new registrations<\/strong>, click: \u201cRICHIEDERE L\u2019ISCRIZIONE ALL\u2019ANAGRAFE DEGLI ITALIANI ALL\u2019ESTERO\u201d<\/li>\n<li>For <strong>address updates<\/strong>, click: \u201cCOMUNICARE LA VARIAZIONE DELLA PROPRIA RESIDENZA\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Complete all fields as prompted.\n<ul>\n<li>Data must exactly match your Italian passport.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not have a passport, use the details from your original birth certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Include middle names in the \u201cFIRST NAME\u201d field.<\/li>\n<li>Use European date format: <strong>DAY \/ MONTH \/ YEAR<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Print the registration form.<\/li>\n<li>Upload all required documents via the portal\u2014one set for each individual included in the application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TECHNICAL NOTE:<\/strong> Up to <strong>3 multipage PDF files<\/strong> will be accepted if they meet the following:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>PDF format<\/li>\n<li>Max resolution: <strong>200 dpi<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Max file size: <strong>1 MB per file<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"6\">\n<li>Wait for the status to update to \u201cTRASMESSA AL COMUNE\u201d\n<ul>\n<li>This status indicates the request has been forwarded to the relevant Italian municipality.<\/li>\n<li>You will receive an email confirmation once your application is transmitted.<\/li>\n<li>Processing time depends on the municipality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What is A.I.R.E.?
