Authentication and Certifications

Signature Authentication (Acknowledgment)

This service consists of a public officer certifying that a document originates from the person who signed it.
To proceed, you must book an appointment and appear in person at the Notary Office with:

  • A valid photo ID

  • Your Italian tax code (codice fiscale).

Photograph Authentication

To authenticate a photograph, please book an appointment and appear in person at the Notary Office with:

  • A valid photo ID; and

  • Three identical recent photographs.

Certification of Italian Acts and Documents (True Copies)

The Consular Authority may certify that a copy of a document is true to the original presented by the applicant.

Alternative for EU citizens only: the applicant may, where permitted by law, use self-certification (autocertificazione) or a statutory declaration (atto notorio) in place of consular certification.
