Italian Design Day – March 2nd 2017

Italian Design Day – March 2nd 2017

The Consulate General of Italy in Miami, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency and the School of Architecture of the University of Miami, is glad to honor Italian Design Day, a celebration established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation along with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and the Italian Trade Agency, with an event held at the School of Architecture of the University of Miami on Thursday, March 2,2017 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

After a short produced by Master Matteo Garrone for Salone del Mobile 2017 and exceptionally provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Bologna-based architect Massimo Iosa Ghini will talk about Italian design’s history and trends. Mr. Iosa Ghini is well known for designing and creating some of the most innovative concept stores worldwide and for his collaborations with some of the most relevant brands in the furniture design industry. His work is included in several museum collections and has been globally recognized and awarded (in the United States, for example, he received the Chicago Athenaeum’s Good Design Award and the Roscoe Award).

Italian Design Day celebrates the quality and uniqueness of Italian design and represents an opportunity to focus the attention on Florida, and especially on Miami, which has evolved into one of the main hubs of innovation and development, with the creation of the Design District and the significant presence of Italians operating in this sector.
